WASHINGTON – Following a proposed rule from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Farmers Union (NFU) issued a statement in support of expanded access to E15 for consumers set to take place before the summer driving season next year.

We appreciate EPA’s efforts to increase the use of ethanol in this proposal.  Expanded availability and adoption of ethanol is good for farmers, good for consumers, and good for the environment,” said NFU President Rob Larew. “NFU continues to support further availability of ethanol and biofuels as a critical piece to address the climate crisis and provide more choice for consumers.”

NFU is a strong supporter of biofuels and their positive impacts for farmers and the environment. This update from EPA – as requested from Governors in the states where it will be implemented – is a positive sign in the efforts of NFU and other ethanol supporters to provide common sense solutions that have multiple benefits across our economy.  NFU urges the Administration to allow E15 usage this summer driving season as was done last year. NFU also continues to advocate for higher blends, such as E30, as a way to have a greater reduction in air pollutants while have an increase in octane.
