Interior Statement on Funding for BLM Relocation

WASHINGTON —This morning, the Committee of Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies is marking up the Department of the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Act 2020. This statement is in response to their markup:

“The BLM relocation is moving full speed ahead. The M Street lease expires at the end of 2020, and approximately 60 of these employees will remain stationed in DC. As previously approved by Congress, we have the means to complete this relocation and establish the new headquarters in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Department intends to give BLM employees their legally authorized compensation and incentives, but ultimately it is up to Congress to decide if they want to deny these benefits to our employees.” — DOI Spokesperson
