Denver, Colo. — Bill Hendrix – an agriculture executive passionate about student engagement and diversity – joined the Together We Grow board, following a 32-year career within the industry, most recently as Vice President, Technology for Valent USA LLC.
Together We Grow, a consortium of major agribusiness and food companies, higher education institutions, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies, is an organization committed to improving and expanding diversity in the agriculture and food sector. The 8-member Board of Directors is focused on shaping the long-term strategy of the organization to ensure the greatest impact towards Together We Grow’s mission and maximizing value for its members.
In Dr. Hendrix’s role at Valent, he oversaw research and development (R&D) functions, as well as regulatory activities. He previously worked with Dow AgroSciences (now Corteva Agriscience) for 28 years holding numerous roles as varied as discovery research, product stewardship specialist for Asia/Pacific, and biology team leader for corn traits and seed treatments.
With a Ph.D. in Entomology from Iowa State University, he is also an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University Department of Entomology.
In addition to authoring or co-authoring 19 refereed papers, Hendrix has served on numerous state, regional, and national professional committees and presented over 106 professional posters or presentations.
His commitment to elevating diversity and engaging the next generation includes serving on several boards, such as Cultivating Change Foundation working to elevate LGBTQ+ agriculturalists and Agriculture Future of America’s (AFA) Executive Ambassador Program. He also served on the FFA’s President’s Advisory Board and for six years at Indiana Youth Group, a United Way agency and nationally recognized resource for at-risk LGBTQ+ youth, and Central Indiana United Way Board of Directors while leading the Diversity Committee.
Bill has testified before Congress twice on workplace equality and was recognized by Out and Equal with the prestigious Trailblazer for Workplace Equality award in 2010 and as GLBT Scientist of the Year in 2011 by the National Organization for Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals (NOGSTP).
