WASHINGTON, March 16, 2022 – On Thursday, March 17, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to New York City, where he will visit Teachers College, Columbia University and give a speech showcasing the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s robust efforts to tackle nutrition insecurity. The address will underscore USDA’s commitment under the Biden-Harris Administration to prioritize bold nutrition security efforts that will help ensure all American children and families have consistent and equitable access to healthy, safe, and affordable food.
Ensuring all Americans have access to healthy, affordable food is central to the mission of the U.S. Department of Agriculture under the Biden-Harris Administration. In the last
year, the Administration has taken historic steps to expand and strengthen nutrition assistance programs, combat food insecurity, reach out to historically underserved communities, and more.
The program will include introductory remarks by Teachers College President Thomas Bailey and Provost Stephanie Rowley, and a conversation about USDA’s powerful tools to promote and elevate nutrition security between Secretary Vilsack and Teachers College Mary Swartz Rose Associate Professor of Nutrition and Education Pam Koch.
