Missouri’s Cattlemen Foundation awarded scholarships to 25 high school seniors and college students at the 54th Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show. The awards were presented during a banquet celebrating the achievements of youth in the cattle industry on Saturday, January 9, 2022.

Scholarship recipients were chosen based on excellent communication, leadership and scholastic achievement as well as involvement in their communities and the agricultural industry. Each selected student received a $1,000 scholarship funded by Missouri’s Cattlemen Foundation and its many supporters. Several were endowed scholarships that were established to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to Missouri’s beef cattle industry.

Scholarships were awarded to Samuel Bishop, Cooper County; Lucas Crutcher, Greene County; Justin Duenke, Audrain County; Emma Eiken, Cole County; Sydda Evans, Boone County; Briana Frerking, Lafayette County; Laci Fuhlage, Howard County; Robert Goehl, Lewis County; Bayleigh Hunziger, Hickory County; Emma Hurst, Cole County; Ella Jordan, Andrew County; Courtney Keaton, McDonaldCounty; Abbigail Kleinsorge, Mongomery County; Alexis Koelling, Pike County; Carlee Long, Monroe County; Jadyn Lower, Hickory County; Halley Marek, Chariton County; Madeline Payne, Polk County; Avery Schiereck, Cedar County; Cade Shepherd, Lawrence County; Emily Sinning, Wright County; Annamarie Stone, Audrain County; Josie Toombs, Polk County; Ethan Vanderwert, Boone County; and Jade Williams, Dallas County.

For the third year, judges selected the top five written applications and those individuals had in-person interviews with a panel of judges to compete for an additional $2,000 making the scholarship a total of $3,000. The top five candidates were: Lucas Crutcher, Emma Eiken, Emma Hurst, Avery Shiereck and Ethan Vanderwert. The top two who received an additional $2,000 and $1000 respectively provided by Missouri Cattlemen’s Foundation and the Boone County Cattlemen’s Association were Ethan Vanderwert and Avery Shiereck.

Since 1997, Missouri’s Cattlemen Foundation has awarded over 753 scholarships worth over $760,500.
