U.S. Congressman Lamborn Urges VA to Support Veterans in Rural Communities

Washington, D.C.- Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) joined 80 of his colleagues in sending a bipartisan letter to Denis McDonough, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, urging him to prioritize care for rural veterans. Rural veterans have historically faced difficulties accessing quality care because many VA’s resources are devoted to major urban areas. The letter discusses improving overall access to care for rural veterans through creative improvements such as cross-agency collaboration, public-private partnerships, and improved rural broadband internet. Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District is home to five military installations and hosts one of the largest veteran populations of any district.

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

One of my top priorities in Congress is to improve access to care for veterans. Unfortunately, far too many veterans in rural communities face unnecessary barriers when accessing essential care and services.  These veterans must receive the standard of care they have earned. I will continue to fight for veterans throughout the Fifth Congressional District, and I urge Secretary McDonough to do the same.”
