USCA Set to Testify at Senate Agriculture Committee Hearing on Cattle Markets

(WASHINGTON) – The U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry will hold a hearing today, Wednesday, June 23rd at 2:30pm EDT on Examining Markets, Transparency, and Prices from Cattle Producer to Consumer.”

The United States Cattlemen’s Association’s (USCA) Vice President, Justin Tupper, will testify on behalf of the organization. 

Since 2007, Tupper and his wife, Brooke, have managed the premier St. Onge Livestock in St. Onge, South Dakota, earning the Black Hills Stock Show’s title of Agribusiness of the Year in 2021.  The Tupper Family are also cow-calf producers, grazing cows year-round in southwestern Wyoming and southeastern Montana and running yearlings on summer grass.

Vice President Tupper’s background as both a producer and market owner/operator provide a unique perspective and voice on the issues to be discussed during tomorrow’s hearing.

USCA’s testimony will focus on: 

  • Ensuring a fair and competitive market. 
  • Boosting transparency and true price discovery. 
  • Building independent processing capacity.
  • Establishing truth in labeling on U.S. beef products.
