CLA: Celebrate the start of National Ag Week off with a salute to Colorado’s livestock producers!

GREELEY, CO – Show your pride in Colorado livestock agriculture by kicking off National Ag Week in celebration of Colorado Livestock Proud Day on March 22, 2021!

There is no time like the present to show our pride in the hard work and dedication of our farming and ranching families across Colorado.

Today, is the beginning of National Ag Week, a week dedicated to the celebration of all types of agriculture production across the nation. Agriculture is Colorado’s second largest economic driver. Agriculture serves as our state’s economic backbone, generating more than $40 billion in economic activity annually and supporting more than 170,000 jobs.

The Colorado Livestock Association, Colorado Dairy Farmers, Colorado Egg Producers, Colorado Pork Producers Council, Colorado Wool Growers Association and Rocky Mountain Farmers Union joined in a proclamation declaring March 22 “Colorado Livestock Proud Day” in response to the misinformation shared in the MeatOut proclamation recently signed by the Governor.
Colorado Livestock Proud Day is dedicated to sharing scientific and evidence-based information on livestock’s impact on the environment, human nutrition, and animal welfare.

Today, we celebrate livestock producers who have the responsibility of protecting the land, water and air and demonstrate their commitment through compliance with state and federal regulations. Livestock graze lands that are not suitable for the production of crops and are able to convert solar energy in plants into protein dense meat products.

There is no one more devoted to the animals in their care the livestock producers. Livestock producers are committed to providing responsible animal care using sound animal husbandry practices, based on practical experience and scientific research.
Farmers and ranchers raise livestock to provide nutritious, affordable protein for families across the state, and throughout the nation.

The livestock industry and the people, animals and businesses that are apart of it, are an essential part of Colorado’s past, present and future and is the cornerstone of the foundation of our state.
