(WASHINGTON) Today, U.S. agriculture leaders from across commodities and industries will hold a virtual press conference to release a new report on the challenges and solutions for American agriculture on trade, supply chains and global competitiveness. The report is the culmination of a series of discussions across rural America with farmers, ag leaders and related industries including manufacturing and food producers and distributers. The report, organized by Farmers for Free Trade and its membership, is being released to the incoming Biden administration, Congressional offices and the general public at a time when the ag community is facing enormous challenges, including the potential loss of a trade surplus it has enjoyed for decades. Press conference participants will share their views on the hardships farmers are facing, the impacts of current trade policies and the solutions that policymakers need to embrace to support the industry on trade and supply chain issues.
