Red Angus Foundation, Inc. Offers Unique Auction for Pick of Three Herds

Denver, CO – Despite the cancelation of the 2020 National Red Angus Convention, the annual Red Angus Foundation Inc. auction will be held online Oct. 23-27, 2020. At the heart of the Red Angus Foundation, Inc., are generous stakeholders whose vision for the future far surpasses their own ranches. Through their donations, memorial contributions and fundraising assistance, RAFI is empowered to support junior programs and advance the breed’s position in the industry through research and development. The RAFI auction is a yearly event, normally held during the National Red Angus Convention, that helps fund the full gamut of RAFI endeavors.

The jewel of the RAFI auction, the “Pick of the Herd,” which features a different ranch each year, will be executed differently in 2020. The “Pick of the Herd” auction will allow the winning bidder to select a female of choice, from one of the following three herds: Andras Stock Farm, Manchester, Illinois; Bullhill Ranch, Graycourt, South Carolina; and Cedar Hill Farm, Jane Lew, West Virginia. All three of these progressive breeders embody the spirit of RAFI and are committed to the future of the Red Angus breed and the beef industry as a whole.

Proceeds from his tremendous sale will be donated to the RAFI Research and Development Fund. This fund ensures RAFI will continue to finance meaningful research projects throughout the U.S. and continue RAAA’s longstanding tradition of providing land-grant universities with much needed beef cattle research support.

“We always look forward to the Red Angus Foundation auction each year at the National Red Angus Convention as a highlight event,” said Tom Brink, RAAA CEO. “This fall, things are obviously different, but thanks to our great supporters and donors, the online offering for the auction is tremendous, and should garner a lot of attention and active bidding in support of RAFI’s very worthwhile mission.”

In addition to the “Pick of the Herd,” bidders will vie for several pieces of artwork, a photography trip and herd visit at the R.A. Brown Ranch, a herd visit and mountain stock drive at Beckton Stock Farm, a herd evaluation package conducted by the RAAA marketing staff, framed western lifestyle photos and select historical Red Angus items. DVAuction will manage the online auction, which will be a horse-race type auction.
