GRAIN STOCKS – June 30, 2020
ARIZONA
Off-farm corn stocks in Arizona on June 1, 2020 were 2.19 million bushels, up 23 percent from June 1, 2019, according to the June 1
Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural
Statistics Service, USDA. Off-farm barley stocks totaled 29,000 bushels. Off-farm all wheat stocks in Arizona on June 1, 2020 were
2.22 million bushels, down 34 percent from last year. Other Arizona grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data
for individual operations.
COLORADO
All corn stocks in Colorado on June 1, 2020 were 48.12 million bushels, up 37 percent from June 1, 2019, according to the June 1
Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural
Statistics Service, USDA. All corn stocks stored on farms amounted to 28.00 million bushels, up 75 percent from a year ago. All corn
stored off farms amounted to 20.12 million bushels, up 5 percent from a year ago. Off-farm sorghum stocks were 689,000 bushels,
down 60 percent from last year. Off-farm oat stocks in Colorado were estimated at 27,000 bushels, down 45 percent from last year. Offfarm barley stocks totaled 4.20 million bushels, down 29 percent from last year.
All wheat stocks in Colorado on June 1, 2020 were 22.82 million bushels, up 8 percent from June 1, 2019. All wheat stocks stored on
farms amounted to 4.10 million bushels, up 5 percent from a year ago. All wheat stored off farms amounted to 18.72 million bushels,
up 9 percent from a year ago. Other Colorado grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual
operations.
MONTANA
Off-farm corn stocks in Montana on June 1, 2020 were 48,000 bushels, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain
Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. All oat stocks
in Montana on June 1, 2020 were estimated at 531,000 bushels, up 118 percent from last year. Oats stored on-farm were up 117 percent from last year to 500,000 bushels. Off-farm oat stocks were 31,000 bushels, up 121 percent from a year ago. Montana barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2020 were 18.96 million bushels, up 17 percent from a year ago. Barley stored on farms totaled 9.10 million bushels, up 25 percent from last year. Off-farm barley stocks were up 11 percent from a year ago to 9.86 million bushels.
All wheat stocks in Montana on June 1, 2020 were 71.59 million bushels, up 12 percent from June 1, 2019. All wheat stocks stored on farms amounted to 46.00 million bushels, up 8 percent from a year ago. All wheat stored off farms amounted to 25.59 million bushels, up 21 percent from a year ago. All Durum wheat stocks on June 1, 2020 were 8.70 million bushels, down 29 percent from last year. Other Montana grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.
NEW MEXICO
New Mexico grain stocks on June 1, 2020 were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.
UTAH
Off-farm corn stocks in Utah on June 1, 2020 were 291,000 bushels, down 33 percent from June 1, 2019, according to the June 1
Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural
Statistics Service, USDA. Off-farm sorghum stocks in Utah on June 1, 2020 were 4,000 bushels. Off-farm barley stocks totaled 39,000
bushels. Off-farm all wheat stocks in Utah on June 1, 2020 were 4.21 million bushels, up 17 percent from last year. Other Utah grain
stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations
WYOMING
Wyoming grain stocks on June 1, 2020 were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.
UNITED STATES
Corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2020 totaled 5.22 billion bushels, up less than 1 percent from June 1, 2019. Of the total stocks,
3.03 billion bushels are stored on farms, up 3 percent from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, at 2.20 billion bushels, are down 2 percent
from a year ago. The March – May 2020 indicated disappearance is 2.73 billion bushels, compared with 3.41 billion bushels during the
same period last year.
Grain sorghum stored in all positions on June 1, 2020 totaled 72.5 million bushels, down 38 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks,
at 8.36 million bushels, are down 12 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 64.2 million bushels, are down 41 percent from June 1,
2019. The March – May 2020 indicated disappearance from all positions is 92.4 million bushels, up 23 percent from the same period
last year.
Old crop oats stored in all positions on June 1, 2020 totaled 36.8 million bushels, 3 percent below the stocks on June 1, 2019. Of the
total stocks on hand, 10.1 million bushels are stored on farms, 4 percent below a year ago. Off-farm stocks totaled 26.7 million bushels,
2 percent below the previous year. Indicated disappearance during March – May 2020 totaled 10.9 million bushels, 13 percent below
the same period a year ago.
Old crop barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2020 totaled 80.3 million bushels, down 7 percent from June 1, 2019. On-farm stocks
are estimated at 25.1 million bushels, 10 percent above a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 55.2 million bushels, are 13 percent below June
1, 2019. The March – May 2020 indicated disappearance is 35.1 million bushels, 1 percent above the same period a year earlier.
Old crop all wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2020 totaled 1.04 billion bushels, down 3 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks
are estimated at 232 million bushels, up 12 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 812 million bushels, are down 7 percent from a
year ago. The March – May 2020 indicated disappearance is 372 million bushels, down 28 percent from the same period a year earlier.
Old crop Durum wheat stocks in all positions on June 1, 2020 totaled 42.8 million bushels, down 22 percent from a year ago. On-farm
stocks, at 17.7 million bushels, are down 32 percent from June 1, 2019. Off-farm stocks totaled 25.1 million bushels, down 13 percent
from a year ago. The March – May 2020 indicated disappearance of 8.55 million bushels is down 56 percent from the same period a
year earlier.
Soybeans stored in all positions on June 1, 2020 totaled 1.39 billion bushels, down 22 percent from June 1, 2019. On-farm stocks totaled
633 million bushels, down 13 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 753 million bushels, are down 28 percent from a year ago.
Indicated disappearance for the March – May 2020 quarter totaled 869 million bushels, down 8 percent from the same period a year
earlier.
Pulse crops stored in all positions on June 1, 2020 and the change from June 1, 2019 are: dry edible peas, 6.69 million cwt, up 44
percent; lentils, 1.83 million cwt, down 43 percent; all chickpeas, 4.33 million cwt, up 11 percent; small chickpeas, 1.40 million cwt,
up 45 percent; and large chickpeas, 2.93 million cwt, up less than 1 percent. Small chickpeas are defined as peas that will pass through
a 20/64 inch round hole screen. Large chickpeas are defined as larger than 20/64 inches.
