The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture (CFA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit education corporation with the vision of advancing agricultural literacy in the next generation of citizens, consumers, and professionals. CFA’s mission is connecting Colorado educators and students to their food, fiber, fuel, and natural resources. A seven- to nine-member voting board of directors governs the Foundation. The 12-member non-voting advisory committee helps guide the board on the development of resources and programs.
The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture was formed in 1991 and has a well-established reputation of providing quality educational programs and resources. The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture is the state contact organization for the National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization. The purpose of the Agriculture in the Classroom® (AITC) program is to improve agricultural literacy – from preK to 12th grade. The program strives to improve student achievement by applying authentic, agricultural-based content as the context to teach core curriculum concepts in science, social studies, language arts, and nutrition. By encouraging teachers to embed agriculture into their classroom, AITC cultivates an understanding and appreciation of the food and fiber system we all rely on every day. During the 2018-2019 school year, CFA reached more than 317,500 Colorado educators and students. To view annual reports, available resources, and other information about the Foundation, please visit www.GrowingYourFuture.com.
