CAWA: Colorado Young Farmers Water Fellowship & Water Fluency Scholarships for Producers!
Producers under 40 years old are eligible to apply for the program that teaches them about water policy, rights, and issues in Colorado impacting agriculture, and how to engage in the water planning process.

- $2,500 stipend for young farmers and ranchers in the program

CAWA has partnered with Water Education Colorado to provide up to two $500 scholarships to help a couple of our members participate in this program.
This comprehensive program is designed to help professionals, such as city and county staff, local elected officials, and water board members gain water fluency and develop tools to navigate water management and policy issues. The topics covered include Colorado water legal and institutional frameworks; water resource planning and protection; and Colorado’s water for the future.
Anyone looking to familiarize themselves with Colorado water law, administration, policy and planning is encouraged to attend!
The format includes two in-person classroom sessions, site visits, reading assignments, and online coursework. Below is the schedule of dates and locations for the in-person classes:
- June 23 and 24 in Durango
- September 2 and 3 in Cortez
About Colorado Ag Water Alliance: The Colorado Ag Water Alliance is comprised of agricultural leaders from across Colorado committed to the preservation of agriculture through the wise use of Colorado’s water resources. Members represent major facets of production agriculture, as well as partner organizations such as the Colorado Water Institute, Colorado State University, Colorado Department of Agriculture, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board.
