Getty Equine Nutrition: COVID-19 Response
This is a period of great uncertainty and it is hard to know what is coming next, but there is so much good and beauty around us that can brighten our outlook and offer us hope. I trust that you are staying well and taking every precaution to keep your homes a safe haven.I want to reassure you that your horses’ nutritional needs will continue to be met. All of the supplement providers I represent are still open and functioning. In some cases, there are slight shipping delays, so it would be best to not wait until the last minute to get what you need. But everything on my website, thus far, is still available for you.
I’d like to offer you some of my personal thoughts, and I welcome yours…
Our horses’ kind and sensitive nature is one that we can rely on, so I encourage you to spend extra time with them and allow them to be a source of comfort to you. I personally have found that praying aloud with my horse seems to bring a sense of calm to him, so we both benefit from it. They can pick up on our tensions, and conversely, they can also sense our calming presence.
There are so many people on the front lines of this battle and they deserve our utmost appreciation. Doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other heathcare providers, are especially vulnerable and their stamina and bravery are beyond measure. Those who are offering essential services so that we can have food and supplies, electricity and water, internet and phone, medications and health equipment, and so much more – to you we are so very thankful.
We are all in this together. Many of us are suffering financially. Many of us are worried about friends and family members who may be sick. Or worse, some of us are grieving. All of us are changed in one way or another. Be kind to each other, be soft in the way you treat others, and try not to let your own tensions spread to those you love. Moods are contagious and we tend to show our worst to those we care about most. Be aware of this; you’ll find that your own stress level will diminish when we are tender with our loved ones.
We will get through this, stronger, more resilient, and more loving and appreciative of the blessings we have in our lives.
