AFBF President Zippy Duvall and USDA Undersecretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs addressed members at the 2019 CFB Annual Meeting in Denver on Friday. President Duvall highlighted the 100th anniversary of the Colorado and American Farm Bureau.
Undersecretary Ibach provided members with an update on his agency’s priorities and projects, including work on international trade, animal disease traceability, national standards for GMO labeling, biotech regulation, etc. He told members about his early experience of involvement with Farm Bureau and noted he got involved because he was asked to.
“If you don’t ask, the answer is ‘No’ already,” he said.
He told members to make sure they ask the next generation of members to get involved.
AFBF President Zippy Duvall told members they should be proud of the achievement of 100 years of Farm Bureau activity. In addition to encouraging members to “get outside your fencerows,” President Duvall discussed the way AFBF has approached the business of the organization under his tenure. He told members he’s put an emphasis on unity, transparency and engagement, working to pull together the entire Farm Bureau family, be clear about our goals and our work, and pushing hard to achieve those goals.
He discussed the many successes Farm Bureau has achieved in the last year, passing a great Farm Bill, helping to achieve tax reform and a rollback of the flawed WOTUS rule accompanied by an effort to shape its replacement.
