US Senator Gardner Applauds $6.6M USDA Investment in Saguache County
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) applauded the announcement that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is awarding the town of Center more than $6.6 million for a new wastewater treatment plant.
“This grant announcement is excellent news for the town of Center and Saguache County,” said Senator Gardner. “It’s vital that our local communities receive the resources they need to provide Coloradans with essential services. I will continue to advocate for Colorado projects at the federal level and be a voice for our state and local governments.”
According to the USDA, this Rural Development investment will be used to replace the District’s existing failing lagoons wastewater plant with a Mechanical Wastewater Treatment Plant. The existing lagoons system is currently out of compliance in which this investment, along with the partnership with the Department of Local Affairs, will assist the District in installing a new treatment plant which will bring the District back into compliance with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
