Agricultural & Foods Tour To Chile With Colorado State University Extension
Colorado State University Extension and the Pueblo County Extension team are always looking for ways to bring education and new ideas to their clients. One of the things that producers are often interested in is how they can increase profitability on their ag operations. Some of the key elements that arise with this question are the potential for wider risk management techniques, lengthening growing season, reducing water usage, diversifying ag enterprises on a farm, developing new markets, and a greater understanding of import/export markets.
Frequently, we look at these elements from the same viewpoint day in and day out. It can be very beneficial to find a new viewpoint when examining these questions. Doing so can help one look at it with a new outlook and discover other options that can benefit the farm or ranch. The opportunity to take an international ag tour is a really good way to examine agriculture in a different way and learn some new approaches that you may not have thought about yet. It also gives you the opportunity to discover new foods and learn about another culture.
The Pueblo County Extension office is currently planning an agricultural and foods tour of Chile for members of the ag community. The tour will have visits to numerous agricultural operations throughout Chile and give tour participants the opportunity to learn about production techniques and marketing strategies that are currently used in Chile. Additionally, the group will learn about Chilean foods and have the opportunity to experience the Chilean culture.
The trip is being set up in two parts, with all participants leaving the United States on February 1, 2020 and traveling the first part of the trip that visits northern and central Chile. Those wanting to return after the first segment of the trip would be back in the United States on February 10, 2020. Tour participants wanting to do an additional five days will travel to the Patagonia region of Chile and return to the United States on February 14, 2020.
The tour’s website can be found online at explorationsbythor.com/Colorado and it includes a link button to the tentative itinerary. Cost for the trip varies depending on the option you choose. (Options being shorter vs longer trip, double vs single occupancy, airfare included vs you make your own flight arrangements, etc.) These costs can be found within the itinerary, along with an explanation of what is included and what isn’t included. A $500 deposit is due to the travel company, Explorations By Thor, by August 16, 2019 with final payment due by November 1, 2019. To register for the tour, contact Explorations by Thor at: info@explorationsbythor.com or 859-459-0500 or visiting the website at explorationsbythor.com/Colorado.
We hope you will consider joining us while rather than bringing the education to the clients, we want to take the clients to the education.
