CO Ag Commissioner Greenberg Announces Peck as CDA’s New Director of Communications and Public Awareness

BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Colorado Department of Agriculture Commissioner Kate Greenberg has named Mary Peck as the agency’s new Director of Communications and Public Awareness.  In the role, Peck will be responsible for coordinating communications on behalf of the Department in an effort to promote agency activities, consumer education and staff outreach. Peck will work with the Governor’s Office, Department senior management, state and federal partners, industry organizations, staff, the media and the public to achieve the goals of the position.
“Mary brings a wealth of ideas, energy, and experience to the position. Her personal agricultural roots and devotion to rural communities will help drive her work here at CDA.  We’re lucky to have Mary on board. She will be a great asset to Colorado’s agricultural community.” said Greenberg.

Peck brings more than two decades of communications and media expertise to the Director role, including specialized experience within agricultural and rural communities. She has worked closely with rural electric cooperative staff across Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Wyoming as Communications Coordinator for Tri-State G&T Cooperative, and most recently as a writer for Colorado Country Life Magazine and consultant to the Colorado 4-H Foundation.
Peck was raised on a farm and large cattle operation in southeast Wyoming and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins where she earned a B.A. in Communications. Her professional work has taken her across the state, giving her valuable experience with Colorado’s diverse communities, cultures and geography.
“I am thrilled about the confluence within this opportunity to combine my passion for and background in rural communities and agriculture with my extensive media and community relations experience,” Peck said. “Working alongside the CDA’s expert staff and its many diverse stakeholders, I see tremendous protentional to increase public awareness of the Department’s mission among all Coloradoans and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Peck will begin her new role at the Department on April 29, 2019.
