CLA Board of Directors Vote to Support Legislation

At the recent meeting of the Colorado Livestock Association Board of Directors, Julie McCaleb, Chair of the CLA’s Legislative Affairs Committee and Steve Holdren, CLA lobbyist presented to the Board a list of bills that the Committee has been monitoring this session.

The bills that the CLA Board of Directors voted to support are:

Senate Bill 19-139 More Colorado Road and Community Safety Act Offices

Concerning the issuance by the department of revenue of identification documents to people who are not lawfully present in Colorado on a permanent basis, and, in connection therewith, making an appropriation.

HB19-1102 Nonanimal & Lab-grown Meat Misbranding

The bill states that food is misbranded as “meat” or a cut of meat if it does not come from animals and that lab-grown meat is misbranded as “meat” or a cut of meat unless these terms are not modified by “lab-grown” or “artificially cultured”.

Staff Whereabouts
Monday, the staff visted the Embassy Suites in Loveland in preparation for the 2019 CLA Annual Meeting on April 3-4, 2019. Register today!
Tuesday, the Board of Directors met at the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Kellee participated on the Brand Board conference call.
Wednesday, CLA hosted the 11th annual Marshall Frasier Beef Symposium in Hugo.
Thursday, Bill and CLA Succession Planning Workgroup members Dwain Weinrich and Britt Dinis met in Fort Morgan.
Friday, Bill was in Broomfield for the Colorado Ag Water Alliance meeting,
Next week, the CLA staff will host the Fort Morgan Safety Meeting on Tuesday and will attend the Governors Ag Forum and the Colorado Ag Hall of Fame Banquet where Colorado Cattle Feeders Past President Jay Hickert will be honored on Wednesday
Thursday, Bill will join Julie McCaleb, Jon Slutsky and Justin Miller in
Denver for the annual meeting of the Environmental Ag Program and the quarterly meeting of the Rocky Mountain National Park Ag Subcommittee.
