OCTANE PRESS: New Book in Second Edition of Covers Oliver History in Beautiful Format…

CLASSIC OLIVER TRACTORS—AVAILABLE NOW

Austin, Texas—January 23, 2019—Octane Press is pleased to partner with
Oliver Heritage and Heritage Iron Editor Sherry Schaefer to produce the new
edition of the definitive book, Classic Oliver Tractors.

Classic Oliver Tractors chronicles the historic agricultural brand from beginning
to end: from James Oliver’s purchase of a quarter-share of the South Bend
Foundry in 1855, to the last Oliver-branded tractor to roll off the assembly line in
1976. This once-small company started with a young man and an idea that would
lighten the load of the farmer. Through the years, the company grew and acquired
brands with similar philosophies until nearly a dozen companies operating under
the Oliver flag became a strong force in the farm market.

This new account of Oliver’s history includes its industrial and crawler tractors,
implements, international ventures, and the various products that carried the
Oliver badge. Vintage advertisements, brochures, and both color and black and
white photos illustrate this compelling part of agriculture’s history. The new
edition chronicles the breadth of Oliver history across decades, mergings, and
new markets in a beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully organized format.

Sherry Schaefer is a Greenville, Illinois, native and grew up around tractors and equipment. Her grandfather was an Oliver tractor dealer and her father is a dealer of used Oliver tractor and equipment. True to her lineage, Schaefer has become an
expert within the industry. In 1993, Schaefer became the editor of the Hart-Parr Oliver Collector’s magazine, and in 2004, Schaefer began her own bi-monthly Oliver publication, Oliver Heritage. Schaefer soon after started Heritage Iron magazine in
2008. Schaefer has authored numerous books and has provided her expertise to dozens of other tractor-related books. With roots that run deep in Oliver history, Schaefer brings this compelling narrative alive.
