CO Governor Hickenlooper announces Boards and Commissions appointments
DENVER — Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 — Gov. Hickenlooper today announced Boards and Commissions appointments to the Governor’s Council for Active and Healthy Lifestyles, Colorado Aeronautical Board, Colorado State Fair Authority Board of Commissioners, Judicial Nominating Commissions, Transportation Commission, Underground Damage Prevention Safety Commission, Colorado Wildlife Habitat Stamp Committee, Workers’ Compensation Cost, Workforce Development Council, and the Division of Youth Services Community Boards.
The Colorado State Fair Authority Board of Commissioners is a corporate body, a political subdivision of the state. The Board directs and supervises the Colorado State Fair and Industrial Exposition. The Fair is held annually at Pueblo for the display of livestock and agricultural, horticultural, industrial, mining, recreational, educational and scientific products of the state of Colorado.

Dianna Marie Coram of Montrose, a Republican from the Western Slope and the Third Congressional District, appointed;

Michael J. Schliep of Brighton, a Democrat from the Sixth Congressional District, and a member with substantial experience in agriculture or in the activities of 4-H clubs, appointed;

Honorable Lois Anne Tochtrop of Thornton, a Democrat from the Seventh Congressional District, reappointed.
The Governor’s Council for Active and Healthy Lifestyles provides citizens with information and programs necessary for the acquisition and maintenance of physical fitness; to encourage a healthy lifestyle for the people of the State of Colorado, and to assist diversification of the economy of the state by enhancing its attraction as a place to live and work.

The Colorado Aeronautical Board assesses the state’s aviation needs and makes recommendations to the Director of the Division of Aeronautics within the Department of Transportation.

Kenneth Edward Maenpa of Mountain Village, to serve as a member from the western slope and who represents local governments that operate airports, appointed;

Charles Emion Myers of Elbert, to serve as a member from the eastern slope and who represents local governments that operate airports, reappointed.
The Broadband Deployment Board implements and administers the deployment of broadband service in unserved areas of the state by awarding grants from the Broadband Fund.

Anthony Neal-Graves of Parker, to serve as a representative of the Governor’s Office of Information Technology, and occasioned by the resignation of Brian Kenneth Shepherd of Denver, appointed.
There is a Judicial Nominating Commission for each of Colorado’s 22 judicial districts that selects nominees for district and county judicial vacancies. Each district nominating commission is chaired by a justice of the Supreme Court, who is a non-voting member of the commission.

The Transportation Commission formulates general policy for the Colorado Department of Transportation with respect to the management, construction and maintenance of public highways and other transportation systems in the state. The Commission also works to assure that the preservation and enhancement of Colorado’s environment, safety, mobility and economics is considered in the planning of all transportation projects

Jesus Pulido Collantes of Lone Tree, to serve as a commissioner from the Third Transportation District, and occasioned by the resignation of Luella C. Chavez D’Angelo of Lone Tree, appointed.
The Underground Damage Prevention Safety Commission shall advise the notification association and other state agencies, the general assembly and local governments on: best practices and training to prevent damage to underground utilities; policies to enhance public safety, including the establishment and periodic updating of industry best standards, including marking and documentation best practices and technology advancements; and policies and practices to improve efficiency and cost savings to the 811 program, including the review, establishment and periodic updating of industry best standards to ensure the highest level of productivity and service for the benefit of both excavators and owners and operators.

The Colorado Wildlife Habitat Stamp Committee shall annually review proposed projects for expenditure of Colorado wildlife habitat stamp funds and make recommendations to the director and the wildlife commission.

The Workers’ Compensation Cost is responsible for promoting cost containment and risk management programs in the administration of workers’ compensation programs.

The Workforce Development Council consists of representatives of the business community and state agencies. The Council, in consultation with the business community and state agencies, shall advise the Governor on matters regarding the employment and training needs of the state and on workforce development plans and strategy.

Division of Youth Services Community Boards are created to promote transparency and community involvement in division facilities with each region (Northeast, Southern, Central and Western); provide opportunities for youths to build positive relationships with adult role models; and promote involvement in the community. Each community board must include six members with a diverse array of experience and perspective related to incarcerated youths.
