Let’s be clear — failure to pass a farm bill this year would undermine the financial security of America’s farmers and ranchers.  Farmers can be proud to support the 2018 farm bill because it is good for all Americans.

The farm bill:

  • Recognizes the hardships farmers are facing due to the current farm economy crisis. Farmers and ranchers have faced rising costs and lower commodity prices for several years running. As a result, farm income is less than half what it was five years ago.
  • Helps farmers remain productive. A farm’s productivity ensures that when any of us, including SNAP recipients, goes to the grocery store, it takes less of our income to put food on the table.  Nutrition, the rural economy and environmental sustainability all improve when our farms are financially stable.

As farmers and ranchers, we can speak up on how important these programs are to our livelihood and our ability to grow the food, fuel and fiber we all enjoy. And as a nation, we have the chance to support good nutrition for all and work together to protect the safe, affordable food supply we all depend on.

AFBF President Zippy Duvall said, “Farmers and ranchers are counting on our lawmakers to come together and pass the farm bill soon, followed quickly by the President’s signature.”  Take Action Now to Make It Happen Today!
